Effect of Basicity on Metallurgical Properties of Fluxed Pellets with High MgO Content

The basicity (CaO/SiO2) has an important influence on the metallurgical properties of fluxed pellet with high MgO content. This paper studied effect and function pellet, such as compressive strength, reduction disintegration, swelling softening-melting behaviour systematically simulating BF conditions. From results, increasing from 0.6 to 1.3, strength increases 2842 N 3532 N, pore structure become more compact, following phase transformation is observed Fe2SiO4 → Ca2SiO4, MgXFe2−XSiO4 MgFe2O4. Additionally, magnesium pellets are improved, low temperature disintegration index 89.8% 97.78%, decreases 19.02% 8.45%. With increase in pellets, softening interval melting decrease slightly, position cohesive zone shift down gradually thinner, which improve permeability zone. In range 0.6–1.3, optimum for 1.1.
